Courtney is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) who practices in Wake Forest, NC. She received her undergraduate degree in Child development from East Carolina University. She then went on to receive her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2012 from East Carolina University.

 

Courtney enjoys cooking, organizing and designing, DIY projects and spending time with family and friends, both human and furry. 

 

As a therapist, she uses a person-centered, integrative, collaborative approach to help individuals face challenges, recognize their unique strengths, and meet their goals. She prioritizes building  relationships with each client based on trust and safety. She strives to honor and validate clients’ lived experiences and encourages clients to approach pain with curiosity and compassion, empowering them to find pathways to wellness as they define it.

 

She draws heavily on strategies and principles from self compassion, mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and acceptance and commitment therapy. Areas of expertise include anxiety and mood disorders including depression, life transitions, family dynamics, parenting and emerging adulthood. 

 

She is passionate about educating clients to understand their thoughts and behavioral patterns better and learn healthy boundary setting with self and others to build resiliency. As a person-centered therapist, she believes that therapy is a collaborative journey with her clients. She offers an honest and authentic approach, and her goal is to provide a warm and inviting environment.
