Counseling Intern

James is a prospective counselor pursuing a Master of Arts in Marriage, Family, and Individual Counseling at Southeastern Seminary. Growing up in Burkina Faso, West Africa, he developed a deep passion and rich understanding of diverse cultures. He earned his Bachelor’s in Math and Social Studies Education from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill in May 2014. James has 7 years of experience specializing in Gifted Education for 6th and 7th grades. He seeks to thoroughly explore the client’s family history, assist the client in identifying unhealthy thought patterns, and nurtures client into present-moment awareness. James uses elements of Psychoanalytic theory, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness techniques in his counseling approach. James is actively growing his expertise and interests related to marriage counseling, working with adolescents, addressing depression, anxiety, addiction, and family dynamics. As a growing counselor, James offers support for growth and transformation as he supports clients in their unique journeys toward emotional well-being.
