Tamedra is currently completing her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at East Carolina University with a minor in Human Development and Family Science. Prior to her internship at Cornerstone Counseling and Wellness, Tamedra previously worked as a tutor, mentor, preschool coordinator, and Registered Behavior Technician. Her current and past educational experiences influence her work in working with various populations.

 

Pulling from a diverse array of career, educational, and life experiences, Tamedra uses a systemic approach to therapy that focuses on not only the individual, but also their interaction patterns with others in their environment. She tailors her approach to fit the needs of her clients and their families with a blend of treatment modalities such as Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Gottman Couples Therapy. Tamedra’s experience and clinical interest include working with teens, adults, couples, and families. Her work addresses issues such as anxiety, depression, marital and family issues, mood disorders, and mental disorders.

 

Tamedra seeks to know and learn her clients. She believes that each individual and their families are experts on their experiences, and she seeks to guide them in identifying their strengths and resources. Tamedra believes that fair, compassionate, and impartial treatment are of utmost importance in her work with her clients, and she hopes to collaborate with them and their families in tailoring her approach to best fit their needs. She hopes to work with them in exploring their experiences and discovering solutions that are sustainable.

 

In her free time, Tamedra enjoys crafting, riding her motorcycle, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her dogs, family, and friends.
