Sensitive and Intense Kids is an online course for parents of kids with sensitivities including diagnosed neurodivergence. The course is based on the latest research in brain science, sensory function, attachment, and child development. It teaches trauma sensitive parents and is adoption and foster care informed. This course is also grounded in biblical insights, grace-filled and shame-healing.

This course is led by Cornerstone play therapists, Hannah Strayhorn, LMFTA and Mara Taranhike, LCSWA, Connected Families certified parent coach.

​

Hannah is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFTA), experienced play therapist, parent coach, and adoptive mom of a very active toddler. She brings both clinical training and lived parenting experience to her work with families. Her approach is trauma-informed and grounded in attachment theory, child development, and play-based interventions, with a deep respect for each child’s story and nervous system needs. She has a passion for integrating play therapy and biblical principles to help caregivers parent with grace, confidence, connection, and purpose.

Mara is a Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate (LCSWA) with experience in play therapy and family therapy in addition to parent coaching. She enjoys walking with parents through the struggles and joys of raising children, especially children who have unique challenges or experiences. Mara has found help and hope in the Lord through the Connected Families teaching and she loves to offer the same help and hope to other parents.

Hannah and Mara look forward to guiding you through the weeks to facilitate the healing, insight, and strategies that come from group discussions. We are excited to see how the Lord works in our time together to bring encouragement, tools, and new insights to parents who are wondering how to adjust their parenting style to match their extra sensitive child.
