Garrett Powell
Counseling Intern
Garrett earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Augusta University in 2023 and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Christian Marital, Family, and Individual Counseling at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
His passion for counseling and helping others developed during his college years through involvement in campus ministry and serving in youth ministry at his church. Garrett is passionate about walking alongside people and meeting them where they are in life's journey. He values meaningful relationships and enjoys getting to know each person's unique story, interests, and experiences. His desire is to create a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment where clients feel empowered to pursue healing, growth, and lasting change.
Garrett believes counseling is most effective when it is collaborative and tailored to the unique needs of each individual. He takes a person-centered approach, drawing from evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Narrative Therapy. Upon client request, he is also glad to thoughtfully integrate faith into the counseling process. His areas of interest include depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, grief and loss, relational conflict, life transitions, and emotional regulation.
In his free time, Garrett enjoys spending time with his family and friends and being outdoors. He loves hiking, pickleball, board games, and is an avid coffee enthusiast.
