Master of Social Work
Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate
Mara graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a Masters of Social Work in 2013. In her studies and work experience she focused on working with children, families, and immigrant communities. She has worked with survivors of trauma and with parents in a coaching and play therapy setting.
Mara counts it an honor to walk with clients through challenging life situations. She enjoys using research proven therapies paired with understanding individual strengths and needs to tailor her practice to each client. Mara uses a mixture of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in her practice. She is training to become a Connected Families Certified Parent Coach to help clients be peaceful and loving in their parenting while training their children in character and wisdom. This framework is strongly rooted in biblical principles, attachment theory, and the latest neuroscience findings.
In her free time Mara enjoys spending time with her husband and children and their church family. She likes knitting, reading, and being outside.
