Marianna works with English and Spanish-speaking children, teenagers and adults. Her areas of focus include anxiety, depression, grief and loss, chronic illness, phobias,marital issues and life transitions.
Marianna is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate, who received her BA in both Psychology and Spanish from Wake Forest University and her MA in Counseling from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. She has received training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), the Gottman Method and Trauma- Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). She also incorporates Child-Centered Play Therapy into her work with children.
Marianna has experience with clients from many walks of life. She is passionate about coming alongside people in the midst of their pain and helping them pursue healing and growth. Marianna believes that every person has inherent dignity and worth, regardless of background or beliefs. She strives to create a safe, empathic space for people to experience a non-judgmental presence and a place to be fully themselves. Marianna is glad to integrate faith and spirituality into treatment, upon request.
Marianna lives with her husband, John, and mini goldendoodle, Lacey, in Durham. In
her free time, she enjoys connecting with friends and family, playing volleyball, reading
and walking Lacey.
