Marilee is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (License #A17030). She received her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. Prior to that, she received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from North Carolina State University (Go Pack!).
Through counseling, Marilee provides a compassionate, non-judgmental space for clients to feel heard and understood. She believes that every person has intrinsic value and is worthy of love and healing. Marilee’s goal in counseling is for the client to feel empowered to make meaningful, lasting change in their lives and confident to overcome any challenges they may face. Her counseling approach is overall person-centered and strengths-based, and often pulls from CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), as well as many other approaches. She is currently training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and looks forward to offering this modality to clients.
Marilee has experience counseling adolescent (12+) and adult clients across a wide range of presenting issues. She often works with clients facing anxiety, life transitions, depression, relational conflict, and self-image/esteem issues. As an adoptive and special needs mom, she is also passionate about walking with parents through unique challenges related to parenting.
In her spare time, Marilee enjoys spending time with her two young children, husband, and rescue dog. She can often be found working in the garden, at a local thrift store, or trying a new restaurant with a friend.
