Valerie received her Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of North Carolina.  She has well over a decade of experience providing mental health counseling in a variety of settings, including inpatient, school based, intensive in-home family counseling, community mental health clinics, and private practice. 

She enjoys working with individual teens and adults, as well as couples and families who are struggling with a variety of life’s challenges.  Common issues addressed in therapy include anxiety, depression, relationship issues, family conflict resolution, grief and loss issues, healing from trauma, managing life transitions, and setting healthy boundaries. She uses a strengths based approach coupled with a variety of therapeutic techniques to support clients in reaching their goals and moving forward.  She believes there is always hope for a next step, and welcomes the opportunity to walk alongside her clients in this process.
